OUT NOW: ELVIS ON THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW '56/'57

Full performances from the 'hillbilly cat's' legendary appearences on the Ed Sullivan Show. These 3 shows were originally aired in September and October 1956 with the final show of January '57, where Elvis was famously filmed strictly from the waist up. In these embryonic years of rock'n'roll's history, the appearance of Elvis Presley in middle America's front rooms, was the catalyst for a cultural revolution that overnight changed the face of a Nations Youth, and led to the worldwide explosion of rock'n'roll. In 1954 Elvis had successfully fused hopped up hillbilly and country with roots rhythm'n'blues and created the first Rockabilly classics, on these performances we see a watered down version of his Sun sound but nethertheless it is essential viewing and the king delivers great versions of many of his early hits.

A FOOLS PARADISE

A station that I can't get enough of at the moment is the wonderful Fools Paradise a strange and deranged world of sleazy grind, way out rock n' roll, garage, surf, blues and downright weirdness. Hosted by Rex Doane.
